EXPLORING SILICA BASED MICROPLANKTON, 2013
Exploring Silica Based Microplankton is a project created with support from the Nationaal Glassmuseum, Leerdam. For the exhibition Een Zee van Glas (November 2013 – October 2014) I was asked to make a series of work in response to the drawings of Ernst Haeckel in his book Kunstformen der Natur published in 1899. I made a series of blown mosaics for an installation in the museum that includes footage of life in a single drop of sea water captured by Ben Laxton at the Jaffe Laboratory for Underwater Imaging at Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
